September, 2005 — The new stone path was laid in October 2002 on a layer of crushed rock and 1/4" crushed granite. The style is based on a traditional Japanese design of rectangular "poem" stones with "crazy paving" and pebbles filling in the gaps.
This photo was taken a year later. Rosemary and our neighbor Doug Rooney had the brilliant idea of replacing the old 4 ft. high wood fence with a 6 ft. high obscure glass panel fence. The first step, after removing the old fence, was to install in concrete footings a row of 4x4 redwood posts.
