October, 2002 — A few months went by while the new side yard storage closet was being built, and during that time I removed the old gate and fence and built a new one using authentic Eichler-style siding. At the same time, my neighbors and I worked on replacing the old fencing. We used Simpson metal post bases (CBQ or CBSQ) to hold the fence posts instead of sinking the posts themselves in concrete.
The plant at the right is a Corokia, a beautiful and unusual plant from New Zealand.
